About the job

In this role you will:
• Investigate, valuate, assess and make decisions on applications against established program criteria
• Determine applicant eligibility under the program's different business lines
• Provide technical leadership, guidance and training to immigration support officers in investigation, evaluation, assessment of applications, and anti-fraud detection procedures
• Ensure compliance with program criteria, policy and objectives.

What you bring to the team


Immigration Knowledge and Skills:

• You have knowledge of the immigration program's operations and the Provincial Nominee Program's processing operations
• You know and are able to interpret and apply provincial programs, policies, strategies and legislative authority relating to the Provincial Nominee Program's mandate outlined in the Canada-Ontario Immigration Agreement
• You have knowledge of Canadian and international immigration documents and passports
• You have experience with intelligence relating to fraudulent documents and irregular immigration activities and schemes
• You are familiar with past and present security features in international travel and identity documents

Analytical and Planning Skills:

• You can assess complex applications and submissions
• You are able to determine eligibility for acceptance to provincial programs and make decisions to approve or deny applications
• You can plan and conduct anti-fraud investigations on applications and obtain information from clients
• You have excellent planning, coordination and organizational skills to process and prioritize applications in accordance with established procedures

Communication, Interpersonal and Leadership Skills:

• You are able to prepare reports and case notes on applications
• You can communicate in a clear and concise manner to discuss files and status with consultants, managers and other parties
• You are able to interact with applicants to explain program criteria
• You can demonstrate tact and diplomacy when dealing with irate clients to ensure that applicants receive courteous and professional service
• You can provide technical direction and guidance to Immigration Support Officers

Computer Skills:

• You are proficient with computers, database and information management systems (i.e. Siebel case management systems and the Microsoft Office Suite of applications)
