Under the supervision of the Managers of the Natural Heritage and Land Use Planning and the Parks and Protected Areas Policy Sections, you will alternately participate as a member of two highly motivated and professional provincial planning teams in the delivery of provincial responsibilities related to natural heritage, land use and parks and protected areas planning and policy in the following ways:
About the job
• Conducting research and analysis to support the review of current provincial policies related to municipal land use and parks and protected areas. Policies may include bait harvest and use in protected areas, land tenure in provincial parks, and regional land use plans (Greenbelt, Oak Ridges Moraine and Niagara Escarpment Plan);
• Assist in the development of policy publications and supporting training materials for the Provincial Policy Statement.

Mandatory requirements
• Proof of eligibility to work in Canada;
• Proof of full-time enrolment in a recognized post-secondary college or university or graduation within the last five years;
• Candidates are only eligible to participate in a maximum of two placements.
Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge of one or more of land use planning, geography, environmental science or natural resource management.
• Knowledge of policy research and analysis techniques
• Understanding of land use and resource management issues related to MNR
• Demonstrated ability to use computer software including word-processing, spreadsheets, presentation, GIS and database packages
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
• Strong organization skills to undertake and balance multiple tasks and shifting timelines
• Ability to research, analyze, assess and report on complex and diverse issues with attention to detail
• Knowledge of worker responsibilities as outlined in the OH & S A
Note: The successful candidate will begin at the base-level pay rate and will move up in the pay scale in accordance with the OPSEU collective agreement.
