About the job
Consider this entry level position where you will work under the general supervision of the Park Superintendent and the group leadership of the Park Planner and Biologist to:
• Assist in the review of land use and resource management policy documents and plans, development proposals and environmental assessment activities;
• Consult with internal and external agencies, groups and individuals on park plans, resource management or environmental assessment projects;
• Assist in coordinating the provision of park planning data and information related to park values;
• Prepare project specific proposals, as directed, for recreational facilities, species at risk assessments and other planning and research functions.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• Job requires a Class G driver's licence.
• Proof of eligibility to work in Canada.
• Proof of full-time enrollment in a recognized post-secondary college or university, or graduation within the last five years.
• Candidates are only eligible to participate in a maximum of two placements.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Understanding of legislation, policies, principles and practices governing park planning, resource management planning and environmental assessment;
• Knowledge of natural resource management and ecosystem management theory, principles and practices;
• Knowledge of and the ability to use personal desktop computer applications including word processing, data management and Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
• Good interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to analyze, interpret and synthesize technical data and information.
Please Note: The successful candidate will begin at the base-level pay rate and will move up in the pay scale in accordance with the OPSEU collective agreement.
