About the job

In this position, your role will include:

- Monitoring and reporting on quality assurance and inspection activities on highway construction sites
- Monitoring consultant testing laboratories
- Providing technical expertise to Operations Office and Consultant field staff.

What you bring to the team


Your technical skills and knowledge will include:

- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering materials applicable to highway construction, including a sound knowledge of highway construction standards & specifications
- Inspection practices
- Demonstrated understanding of, and concern for quality standards
- Sampling, testing and performance of highway construction materials (normally acquired through a diploma in civil engineering technology or related field and/or work experience) to collect and analyze data, prepare and evaluate reports and resolve issues that deviate from accepted standards and practices.

Your interpersonal skills will include:

- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with staff, contractors and the public.

Your other essential skills will include:

- Demonstrated working knowledge of common computer software and applications
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and contribute to effectively resolving problems
- Planning, organizing and coordinating skills, with ability to prioritize effectively
- Demonstrated integrity and flexibility in work demeanor.

Mandatory:

- Minimum G2 driver's license or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario
- Occasional overnight travel is required.
