ServiceOntario's Organizational Development Branch is seeking a motivated professional to design and devleop design blended training solutions to help people feel better prepared to do their job.

About the job

Reporting to the Manager, Business Training Unit, the Instructional Designer will:

• Design and develop training modules, courses, and other learning tools that meet performance development needs
• Conduct business training needs assessments to identify learning objectives in support of ServiceOntario's customer service-focused goals
• Determine appropriate blended learning methods and facilitate learning in a classroom setting and using e-Learning
• Collaborate with partners in ServiceOntario and other Ministries to gather information and validate training materials
• Create and maintain effective project plans for design and development initiatives
• Deliver Train- the- Trainer sessions to orient facilitators to new and re-designed training materials

What you bring to the team


Technical Knowledge

• You have experience designing courses and training modules including learning support materials to deliver training in a classroom setting and using e-Learning
• You can apply your knowledge of current adult education, learning principles and methodologies to design business training modules, courses and evaluation tools
• You have knowledge of tools and systems related to the design, delivery and evaluation of training
• You understand government structures, programs and practices to evolve and effectively manage the impact of changes in the environment on service delivery

Facilitation and Relationship-Building Skills

• You can build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and learners
• You have demonstrated facilitation skills to encourage interaction with participants during training sessions and group discussions

Planning, Analytical and Communication Skills

• You have planning, analytical and conceptual skills to assess training needs and determine appropriate training methods
• You can prepare documents including project plans, job aids, course maps and training materials
• You have experience monitoring and adjusting project plans
• You can organize and manage multiple demands within strict deadlines

Computer Skills

• You are proficient with computer applications including word processing, spread sheet and presentation software
• You have demonstrated proficiency creating on-line multimedia content
• You have experience using Learning Management Systems and graphic presentation software such as Visio etc.
