The Ministry of Natural Resources manages and protects Ontario's forests, fisheries, wildlife, provincial parks, mineral aggregates and the Crown lands and water that make up more than four-fifths of the province. The Communications Services Branch seeks an experienced communications professional with superior writing skills to write corporate communications products in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
About the job
You will:
• research, develop and write speeches, fact sheets, web content, news releases and other products
• prepare materials for news conferences and special events
• develop and implement communications strategies
• coordinate the development of communications and promotional material designed to support the ministry's core business goals and priorities
• provide strategic communications advice to senior staff
What you bring to the team
Written Communication Skills:
• you have superior written communications skills to produce high quality communications products (e.g. speeches, news releases, event notes, feature articles, website content)
Oral Communication, Interpersonal and Relationship Building Skills:
• you have strong oral communications skills to discuss client program requirements and recommend effective strategies
• you have interpersonal and relationship-building skills to establish effective working relationships with clients
Research, Analytical and Strategic Thinking Skills:
• you have strong research, analytical and strategic thinking skills to analyze complex materials on detailed subject matters and develop appropriate communications materials
Project Management and Leadership Skills:
• you have project management and leadership skills to effectively lead the planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of communications projects
• you have demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure with minimal supervision
• you are proficient with computer software (i.e. MS Office)
Technical Knowledge:
• you have excellent knowledge of journalism, media and public relations techniques to develop communications products designed to raise awareness and understanding of ministry programs
