If you have highly developed administrative skills with a background and interest in the legal field, then the Ministry of Transportation's Road User Safety Division is looking for you! As a member of a professional team, you will work with diverse stakeholders to coordinate all court related activities and materials in the Ontario Provincial Court System related to the Ministry of Transportation Enforcement Unit. This opportunity will give you lots of chance for varied interactions and working autonomously.

About the job

In this role you will:
• support three enforcement related programs by providing administrative support for all court related activities
• prepare Informations, Summonses, Notices of Disclosure, and other court required documents
• liaise and communicate with the Provincial Courts, prosecutors and defense representatives regarding various Ministry court activities
• perform varied duties in court, handling confidential case files
• coordinate court services for officers

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• You have a minimum valid driver's license class of 'G2', as recognized by the Province of Ontario with acceptable driving record
• You are proficient in English as well as proficient in oral French at the advanced level

Interpreting/applying legislation:

• You have demonstrated abilities to understand and interpret legislation (such as Provincial Offences Act, Highway Traffic Act, Public Vehicles Act, Motor Vehicle Transport Act, Fuel Tax Act, Dangerous Goods Transportation Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act etc.) to review and process complex documents.

Legal knowledge:

• You have knowledge of legal procedures and terminology to prepare summonses, disclosures that comply with generally accepted legal practices.

Essential skills:

• You have organizational skills to coordinate multiple schedules and activities
• You are able to work independently and in a team environment
• You have effective oral and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills to connect with members of the court, public and staff
• You have problem-solving, analytical and research skills with proven judgment to accurately review and complete documentation
• You are proficient using a variety of computer software including word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation and Outlook applications
