The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Chief Electoral Office division, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual within the Project Management Office to provide financial and administrative assistance in coordinating electoral event estimate and expenditure activities for all divisions of Elections Ontario.

About the job

• monitor financial activity, conduct analysis, build and prepare reports and assist with the development of tracking tools and procedures regarding electoral event financial planning activities;
• ensure documents are properly coded for cost analysis and audit;
• develop expenditure forecasts and identify expenditure variances and anomalies in comparison with event readiness plans;
• liaise with Divisional Managers and their staff to prepare event-related and project-based budgets; and
• undertake special accounting tasks and analyses as requested.

What you bring to the team


Knowledge and Skills

• demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying government financial management principles, practices and government accounting and budgeting processes;
• demonstrated knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices;
• knowledge of accounting software with advanced functionality and computer applications related to financial systems;
• knowledge and understanding of the financial provisions of the Election Act and associated legislation and regulations to code transactions, prepare for audit and provide guidance and advice to divisional managers and their staff;
• strong analytical and problem-solving skills; and
• well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
