Bring your strong knowledge of communication theory and techniques and good judgement and analytical skills to the Communications Branch where you will plan and implement communication strategies and provide advice on materials related to program initiatives.
About the job
In this role, you will:
• consult with clients on communication requirements related to various policy/program initiatives and advise on methods of communication and information to be communicated to media or specific groups
• identify target audiences and stakeholder groups and analyze their communication needs
• propose media strategies and identify opportunities for cost effective communication
• evaluate implementation and success of communication plans, projects and programs in consultation with clients
• ensure effective development and timely delivery of communication products and activities
What you bring to the team
Technical expertise:
You have:
• knowledge of communication theory and techniques including print, broadcast and electronic communications in order to provide consulting services to clients
• knowledge of electronic communication methods including social media, publication production and media relations to design and implement a variety of communication activities and projects such as promotional campaigns, regular liaison and information services for target audiences, publication productions, audio visual productions, press conferences and special events
• highly developed strategic communications planning skills to offer public relations advice and services to a wide range of ministry staff and client groups
• the ability to act as a communications consultant to all levels of management
Communication skills:
• You have excellent written communication skills and demonstrated ability to prepare speeches, news releases, advertisements, social media and other communications materials under tight deadlines.
Analytical, research and judgement skills:
• You have analytical and research skills to research, write and edit materials and assess client program objectives, initiatives and business/operational plans.
• You can develop and recommend short and long-term communication plans and strategies.
• You can identify communication requirements and develop project schedules.
• You have good judgement to work under pressure to produce high-quality, accurate work under tight deadlines and with minimal supervision.
Computer skills:
• You have knowledge of current Internet trends, word processing and associated software such as presentation software to produce communication products such as media releases and reports.
