About the job
You will:
• lead, coordinate and manage complex, strategic projects and initiatives related to the operation of the Mines & Minerals division
• design and implement new or modified programs, and participate in the development of regulations, business processes and operational policies
• evaluate pilot projects, programs, processes and structures, and make recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the division's operations
• develop business cases, status reports, and briefing materials, and make presentations to senior management with respect to specific projects or initiatives
• develop and manage Requests for Proposal and service agreements, and negotiate transfer payment agreements
• provide expert advice and recommendations to Manager, Directors and Assistant Deputy Minister regarding improvements to divisional programs and services, organizational structure, and strategic policy direction
• represent ministry and division at meetings and workshops or conferences involving other ministries or governments, industry or community stakeholders, and/or Aboriginal communities
What you bring to the team
Specialized knowledge:
• experience in leading complex projects or initiatives, including the design, implementation and evaluation of new or modified programs or initiatives
• knowledge of program design and evaluation methodologies and of project management concepts and techniques
Communication and people skills:
• oral and written communication skills to prepare business cases, status reports, briefing materials and presentations for senior management approval, and to make presentations to Assistant Deputy Minister and senior management with respect to specific projects or initiatives
• leadership skills to lead project teams, build partnerships, anticipate issues and obstacles, and develop solutions while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Conceptual and problem-solving skills:
• conceptual and problem-solving skills to design initiatives and make recommendations that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of divisional programs, services, processes and structures
