Exciting opportunities are available in the Aging and Long-Term Care Unit, Implementation Branch, for analytical, results-oriented professionals interested in developing strategic health policy for Ontario. Working with a team committed to improving the quality and delivery of publicly-funded health care services, you will help set strategic direction for Ontario's health care system.
About the job
In this position you will use your knowledge of the health care system and your policy research, analysis, synthesis, writing and communication skills to improve, at a system level, the delivery of services for seniors.
You will:
• Identify and describe current challenges in the health care system;
• Assess and evaluate current health care policies and practices;
• Design and develop innovative strategic policy options;
• Make evidence-based recommendations to senior decision-makers;
• Draft responses to inquiries from constituents, and stakeholders;
• Support a team of experienced senior health policy advisors and actively engage with internal colleagues and external health care partners;
• Lead and participate on working groups and ministry and inter-ministerial committees.
What you bring to the team
Health Care System Knowledge and Health Policy Experience:
• You have a general understanding of how health care is regulated, funded, organized and delivered in Ontario;
• You have knowledge of the health services and programs available for seniors in Ontario;
• You have demonstrated knowledge of and skills in health policy development.
Policy Development Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills:
• You have experience identifying and describing root causes of system-level challenges in health care systems;
• You have experience designing evidence-based options for addressing complex issues;
• You have demonstrated analytical abilities and an aptitude for synthesizing large amounts of complex data and communicating it in ways that enables comprehension and facilitates effective decision-making;
• You have proven skills in quantitative analysis using health information databases.
Relationship and Project Management Skills:
• You can effectively engage with others to build beneficial partnerships and productive teams.
Computer Skills:
• You have proficiency in MS Word and Powerpoint;
• You have proficiency in conducting database and web-based literature and data searches.
