The Ontario Clean Water Agency is an agency of the Province of Ontario, reporting to the Ministry of the Environment. As the largest provider of water and wastewater services in Canada, we manage over 800 facilities from small well systems and lagoons to large water and wastewater treatment facilities as well as water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
About the job
In this role, you will implement programs to support environmental compliance, process control programs, and health and safety requirements for water and wastewater treatment processes within the Essex West hub.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• Class 3 certification in Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment, Class 2 in Water Distribution, and Wastewater Collection.
• May consider lesser qualified candidates as underfill - minimum Operator-in-Training (OIT), as specified in O.Reg. 128/04 of the Safe Drinking Water Act and O.Reg. 129/04 of the Ontario Water Resources Act.
• Valid Class G driver's license.
Knowledge
• Extensive knowledge in environmental compliance and health and safety requirements
and excellent knowledge of the biology related to the water and wastewater treatment processes.
• Good knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant regulatory and legislative acts, codes, policies, guidelines and procedures related to environmental compliance and the environmental impact of issues on the operation of the water and wastewater treatment systems.
• Good knowledge and understanding is required to apply impact of changes of legislated requirements on the programs and operational processes.
• Excellent knowledge of computers, operating programs and systems.
Skills and abilities include
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills to analyze data, monitor local performance against legal requirements and corporate goals, and resolve compliance issues.
• Evaluative skills to evaluate compliance and quality status of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities.
• Auditing and inspection skills to conduct internal audits, respond to findings, participate in inspections and make recommendations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to provide technical compliance advice to a
variety of staff and officials, prepare and present informational material and prepare analytical reports.

• Ability to work in a team environment and take initiative.
