If so, the Ontario and Superior Courts of Justice require individuals to provide clerical, cashier and counter services to maintain the efficient operation of the court office.
Note: in this position you may be asked to work from 0 to 36.25 hours per week, however, the average hours worked are approximately 32 hours per month.
About the job
Working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadline demands, you will:
•receive, record and process a variety of court documents at the public counter
•respond and provide information to telephone and counter inquiries from the public, lawyers and law enforcement agencies
•receive, issue and sign court orders
•operate a cash register, calculate, collect fees, process payments and issue invoices
•prepare deposits for the revenue and trust accounts
•input and update data on the mainframe computer system (FRANK)
•maintain filing systems, provide administrative and clerical support to the court office
What you bring to the team
Technical Knowledge:
•You have knowledge of court systems and practices to process and prepare court documents
•You have ability to interpret and apply legislation and regulations relevant to the Ontario and Superior Courts of Justice
•You have knowledge of office procedures and practices to provide administrative and clerical support to the court office
Cash Control and Mathematical Skills:
•You have knowledge of cash control practices
•You have the ability to operate cash registers and handle cash including balancing and reconciling at the end of each day
•You have strong mathematical skills
Analytical and Organizational Skills:
•You have good organizational skills and proven ability to set priorities and complete work to strict deadlines
•You have demonstrated analytical skills
•You are accurate and pay close attention to detail
Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
•You have excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
•You have demonstrated initiative, tact and discretion to deal effectively with the public, judiciary and legal professionals
•You have demonstrated strong customer service skills and proven experience providing service to the public, stakeholders and colleagues
•You have the ability to work independently and as a team player in a high volume environment
Computer Skills:
•You are proficient in the use of personal computers and related software (e.g. Word, Excel, database and mainframe computer systems)
