About the job

You will:

• lead the development of strategic direction for the provincial forest operations compliance program
• develop and maintain the forest operations compliance framework
• represent the Ministry on committees, task teams and projects
• evaluate implementation of forest operations compliance policies and programs

What you bring to the team


Consultation and facilitation skills:

• You have excellent consultation and facilitation skills to develop and nurture relationships with stakeholders, represent the ministry's perspective, resolve issues, and promote partnerships.
• You have proven negotiating skills to discuss sensitive issues and integrate opposing interests and professional opinions on complex resource issues.

Technical expertise:

• You have proven knowledge and expertise in policy and program analysis and development, and issue management.
• You have excellent comprehension and knowledge of natural resource planning and management, and forest industry.
• You have the ability to develop, interpret and apply related policies, procedures, regulations and legislation in the areas of forest management, forest operations compliance and enforcement.
• You have political acuity to ensure policy planning and project initiatives are developed and managed within the broad context of the government's agenda

Project management and analytical skills:

• You have excellent strategic thinking, research and planning skills to efficiently support ministry objectives, and to provide advice to senior management around identifying and trends and issues in compliance.
• You have proven project management, group leadership and coordination skills to lead and direct project initiatives and task teams.
• You have sound analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate forest operations compliance program implementation, identify issues, and develop appropriate policy responses.
• You can develop and apply innovative approaches to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the forest operations compliance policies.

Communications skills:

• You have superior communication and presentations skills to provide clear, concise and complete information in briefings to senior management and effectively communicate with a variety of clients.

Computer skills:

• You have a good understanding and working knowledge of computer software programs (e.g. Word, Power Point, Excel, Access) to generate, analyze and report provincial forest operations compliance information.
