About the job

As a Senior Pharmacist, your role will include:
- Liaising with advisors and acting as a scientific adviser to senior management and staff
- Providing policy interpretation and support to pharmacists and the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) Helpdesk
- Reviewing proposals for funding of research projects
- Reviewing Formulary listings and expenditure agreements with pharmaceutical manufacturers
- Developing and implementing program changes and initiatives that affect program operations and external stakeholders
- Participating on pharmaceutical committees and related work groups.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory:

- A degree in Pharmacy from a university of recognized standing and licensure with the Ontario College of Phamacists are requirements for this position.

Your knowledge and abilities will include:

- Demonstrated working knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics and pharmaceuticals to provide expert advice
- Ability to demonstrate understanding of Ontario's drug programs and proven knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmacy operations, programs and legislation to ensure consistency and assess changes for policies and programs
- Abilities with program analysis and policy development to assess drug products for benefit listings
- Working knowledge of organizational and management theories to facilitate the operations of the unit.

Your essential skills will include:

- Project management and organizational skills to plan, assign and coordinate activities
- Communication and consultation skills to respond to, and interact effectively with clients
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to analyze and resolve issues related to pharmacy and program changes; and to make decisions and recommendations on policies and programs
- Writing skills to prepare complex technical reports
- People skills to build and maintain productive working relationships and work collaboratively with others
- Computer proficiency to manage, retrieve, collect and analyze complex data collection and analysis
- Forecasting skills to assess financial implications of expenditure agreements.
