If so, consider this opportunity with the Centre for Employee Health, Safety and Wellness as a Senior Health and Safety Advisor where you will lead comprehensive occupational health and safety programs and services to client ministries across the province.
NOTE:

• This position does require frequent travel across the province.
About the job
You will:
• Lead the implementation of occupational health and safety corporate programs, policies and legislative changes;
• Provide subject matter expertise in the interpretation and application of legislation, collective agreements, government directives and policy to senior management, HR partners, employee representatives and Joint Health and Safety Committees to support a consistent approach and focus on health and safety across the OPS;
• Prepare detailed written reports, briefing materials and presentations to health and safety manager and senior program management regarding high profile and sensitive service delivery and procedural issues;
• Promote effective coordination with other corporate program areas regarding the delivery of occupational health and safety learning programs in order to facilitate overall enterprise-wide corporate management and effective client service.
What you bring to the team
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
• You have a thorough knowledge and understanding of current theories, principles, techniques, issues and trends related health and safety, accident prevention and infection control.
• You have an in-depth understanding of health and safety federal and provincial legislation such as The Occupational Health and Safety Act and The Workers' Safety & Insurance Act.
• You have knowledge of, and experience applying risk management techniques to conduct workplace audits, assess hazards, respond to complex health and safety issues and provide specialist advice/recommendations.
• You have knowledge of collective agreements and related legislation such as The Ontario Labour Relations Act.
Research, Analytical and Project Management Skills:
• You have knowledge of research and analytical methods, techniques and tools.
• You have highly developed project management and evaluation skills to lead or participate on project teams and to identify and investigate legislative, policy and program implementation issues.
• You have strong analytical skills to identify/resolve hazardous conditions, conduct analysis, consolidate findings and develop/interpret conclusions for
program application.
Communication, Consultation and Negotiation Skills:
• You have strong consultation and negotiation skills to provide expert advice on sensitive and confidential legislative, corporate OH&S policy, program and related issues.
• You have effective oral communication skills to present reports, recommendations and proposed guidelines/best practices and to represent ministry interests/discuss trends/developments with program management and other agencies.
• You have written communication skills to prepare reports and presentations, draft procedures, briefing notes and educational materials.
Planning, Organizational and Computer Skills:
• You have planning and organizational skills to plan and coordinate work priorities within operational and legislative deadlines.
• You have computer proficiency and knowledge of software applications to prepare reports, presentations, briefing materials and complex research
materials.
