The Ministry of Education, Provincial Schools Branch (PSB) operates specialized schools across the Province for Deaf and Learning Disabled students.

The Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf and the Sagonaska Demonstration School located in Belleville, Ontario, are dedicated to providing quality educational and residential services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Learning Disabled students.

As a General Duty Nurse you will have a direct impact on supporting the health care needs of special education students enrolled at our schools

Knowledge and Skills

Your background and experience enables you to meet the following requirements:
• Current registration as a Registered Nurse in Ontario;
• knowledge of general nursing theory, practice, procedures and College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice;
• knowledge of relevant legislation;
• knowledge of special needs students
• sound judgement/organization/planning skills;
• excellent communication skills including American Sign Language at intermediate level or willingness to obtain;
• ability to work independently and in a team;
• physical ability to transfer/assist/lift students
• willingness and ability to work shifts.

NOTE: The successful candidate will be required to provide an original, satisfactory Criminal Reference Check, Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within the last six months) as deemed suitable by the Employer, prior to the commencement of employment.
