About the job
In this role, you will:
• provide leadership to the solutions team in the areas of database structures, policies, standards and operating processes
• co-ordinate the development, implementation and maintenance of databases and database administration activities
• provide advice and guidance to clients on use of data management techniques and technologies
• improve on the delivery of programs and services and enhance efficiency of operations for clients
What you bring to the team
Data Management Knowledge
• you know data management and information architecture theory, principles and techniques
• you can use your knowledge to analyze client data management requirements, assess options and conduct feasibility studies on hardware and software and data management standards
• you know data modeling techniques using computer aided software and can use information engineering tools to advise clients on short and long term strategies
Computer Systems and Software Knowledge
• you know micro and personal computer system technologies, application and database management software and database development methodology
• you know programming languages and database concepts to co-ordinate design and development of databases and data management structures, data dictionaries, data storage and retrieval techniques
• you can co-ordinate data dictionaries, data storage and retrieval techniques
System Testing Knowledge
• you know testing and implementation methods and practices to design testing procedures and co-ordinate acceptance testing and consultation with clients
• you can use your knowledge in order to design test procedures using Oracle and MS SQL server
Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
• you can use reasoning and problem solving skills to co-ordinate analysis and development of data management systems that meet client requirements and facilitate improvement of operational efficiency
• you can analyze client requirements by identifying parameters, method and scope for review of data flow, data management and decision-making processes
• you can identify options, conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis and provide advice and guidance to clients on strategies for data management
• you can identify opportunities for integration with other areas or programs and the use of new technology and techniques
• you can use analytical and evaluative skills to develop project plans, data management structures and overall database design requirements and standards
• you can build datawarehouses, datamarts and developing cubes for data analytics and data mining
Communication Skills
• you can interview clients about program operations, decision making processes, goals and objectives and discuss business strategies
• you can explain database design and development process and review technical considerations with clients and project team
• you can present formal and informal training sessions to information system and database users and make presentations to senior management
• you can write systems documentation, draft database management policies and standards
• you can write user manuals, operating procedures, training materials and prepare reports on analysis, such as cost benefit summaries and conclusions
