About the job

You will:

• provide technical leadership in the coordination of the review of regional forest management independent forest audits
• provide expert advice, support and recommendations to management and staff on issues relating to forest management program operations
• provide recommendations for the preparation of annual regional strategic and business work plans and budget
• lead and implement an integrated and collaborative approach to the implementation of forest management operations

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirement:

• You must possess a Registered Professional Forester (R.P.F.) designation from the Ontario Professional Foresters Association.

Technical expertise:

• You have advanced knowledge of forest management principles, theories, methods and practices, with expertise in forest management operations to provide technical leadership and coordination for forest management program activities in the Region.

Coordination, planning and project management skills:

• You can lead the coordination of the region's involvement in the forest audit process.
• You are able to effectively coordinate the annual forest renewal rates.
• You can use your solid planning skills to deliver the regional forest management program.
• You have project management experience to implement work plans, coordinate the delivery of program products and services.

Communication, advisory and consultative skills:

• You can clearly communicate issues, provide options and recommendations as well document rationales for decisions.
• You can effectively address and present findings of audits to management and stakeholders.
• You use your advanced communications skills when providing expert advice and consultations to management, staff and stakeholders.
• You can effectively synthesize information and prepare reports and briefings.
• You can lead consultations with key internal and external partners.

Analytical, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills:

• You possess a high level of analytical skills to review audits and provide recommendations.
• You can assess annual forest renewal rates to ensure the ministry meets its legislative and regulatory commitments and obligations.
• You can identify emerging issues, and develop options and recommendations to address issues.
• You have the ability to identify various stakeholder perspectives and gain consensus to resolve conflicts.
