Here is your opportunity to join the forest health and silviculture section of the Ministry of Natural Resources in this new role of Forest Health Field Coordinator. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of the field extension and reporting components for the Forest Health program. In this role you will provide leadership and coordination of the program through liaising with partners, coordinating assignments for the forest health technician specialists and field staff, as well as overseeing the field program budget, expenditures, and training. In this role you will be given the opportunity to increase awareness of forest health issues for the staff and the public.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

knowledge of native and forest insects, diseases, other organisms and abiotic factors which affect forest health, forest mensuration, soils and ecological land classifications; an understanding of entomology, pathology, tree silvics, cultural and historic facts that influence forest health conditions; oral and written communication skills; ability to develop and deliver training programs; knowledge of forest ground and aerial survey methodologies, data collection techniques and the use of technical computer equipment such as digital mapping tablets, dataloggers, and global positions systems; leadership and team building skills; knowledge of provincial and federal forest health legislation; knowledge of geographic information systems and global positioning systems (Arc/Map and GPS software); ability to use personal computers, peripherals, and digital imagery; negotiation and interpersonal skills; ability to perform maintenance, adjustments, and repair of equipment; valid drivers licence; ability to obtain a safe boating licence, chain saw safety certificate, WHMIS certificate and standard First Aid; ability to travel to various forest health technician locations throughout Ontario and work in a field capacity
