About the job
As a Natural Heritage Education Leader you will:
• provide technical, operational, monitoring and group leadership duties
• lead student staff by assisting with hiring, target setting, training, assigning tasks and evaluating skills
• organize, schedule, deliver and evaluate a variety of cultural, recreational and natural environment programs to park visitors
• organize and prepare displays, pamphlets, general information and notices of program
• interpret, manage and inventory historical artifacts and buildings
• collect and organize statistics, prepare annual operating strategies and year end reports
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements:
• You must possess proficiency in English and oral French at the advanced level.
• You possess or have the ability to obtain a valid First Aid Certificate.
• You possess a valid class 'G' driver's license or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
• You can work shifts, weekend and statutory holidays as per schedule.
• You have the ability to work in inclement weather conditions and travel over various types of terrain.
Technical expertise:
• knowledge of resource management principles and techniques
• ability to interpret relevant acts, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines
• understanding of park programs, services and operating regulations
• knowledge of natural sciences, ecosystems and culture
• possess an understanding of museum management and custodial responsibilities
• knowledge of Canadian pioneer history to provide historical interpretive information to staff and guests
• knowledge of camping and fishing skills to provide interpretive information to staff and guests
Interpersonal, organization and communication skills:
• leadership and supervisory skills to guide, direct and assist staff with park duties, presentations and to schedule staff
• demonstrated group leadership, organization and presentation skills
• strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
• ability to work independently, follow and carry out instructions
Computer skills:
• knowledge of and ability to use personal computers including word processing, record-keeping, internet and e-mail software and social media applications
• ability to operate and maintain audio-visual equipment and cameras
