We need you to provide high-level expertise supporting the development of planning strategies and tools to protect Ontario's sources of drinking water.

About the job

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this vital role, you will:
• help implement Ontario's Drinking Water Source Protection Program
• support the approval of source protection plans
• provide strategic advice to local conservation authorities, source protection committees and municipalities
• lead the development of implementation guidance materials to support the implementation of on land use planning policies in source protection plans
• support source protection plan compliance

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• valid Class G Ontario Driver's License
• ability to travel regularly within Ontario

Environmental Knowledge:

• you know land use planning principles and environmental sciences and management and can apply these to groundwater and surface water protection and land use planning decisions.
• you have experience applying environmental and land-use planning legislation (e.g. Planning Act, Clean Water Act, Environmental Protection Act, Water Resources Act, Municipal Act, Places to Grow, Greenbelt Act) regulations, policies (e.g. Provincial Policy Statement), procedures and guidelines.

Risk Management and Training Knowledge:

• you can interpret and apply the theories, techniques, and methods of risk avoidance, assessment and management
• you have knowledge of adult training techniques and practices

Essential Skills:

• you are a proven leader with strong consultation and negotiation skills
• you can analyze and research complex information
• you are good at solving problems and resolving conflict
• you work well with others and build-consensus towards a common goal
• you can write and present information clearly
• you know how to use computers (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database management)
• you know information management techniques
