About the job

In this role, you will:

• Obtain and verify information required to complete the offenders admission documentations;
• Enter information in the offenders records management system, and search the system for outstanding alerts;
• Provide general information to offenders related to the admission process, and answer questions from the public ;
• Verify discharge information and ensure release documents are properly received and authorized;
• Process and check offenders files and records;
• Review warrants of committal, calculate fines, receive and record cash for fine payments;
• Prepare a variety of documents and liaise with staff for release, transfer and transportation.

What you bring to the team


Knowledge and Experience

• You have experience working with office procedures and policies
• You can interpret and apply ministry offender record directives, policies and procedures, and relevant sections of the Criminal Code, Ministry of Correctional Services Act
• You can work with ministry programs and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) to respond to inquiries

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• You can interact with offenders, staff, professionals, justice officials and the public in a tactful and diplomatic manner
• You can prepare a variety of documents and written materials

Computer Skills

• You can use word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications
• You can input and extract data using the offenders records management system

Analytical, Organizational and Mathematical Skills

• You can ensure accuracy of offender admission and discharge documentation
• You can prioritize work and meet deadlines
• You can check and calculate fines and release dates
