Bring your Geographic Information Systems (GIS) expertise and strong leadership skills to the Ministry of Transportation.
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• lead, supervise and coordinate Geographic Information System activities in the region
• manage information and project processes and supervise staff in the development and implementation of geospatial data projects
• represent the MTO region in the development of policy, standards and procedures related to GIS within the Ministry and across the OPS
• define, evaluate, research, recommend and lead the development and application of GIS technologies
How do I qualify?
Technical Expertise:
• you have knowledge of and experience using: GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS or other open-source); advanced GIS techniques (e.g. spatial analysis, 3D modelling and analysis); and geospatial standards (e.g. metadata, data quality, sharing, and integration), for spatial data acquisition, management, maintenance, analysis, and cartography
• you have knowledge of and experience using relational and spatial / spatiotemporal database (e.g. ESRI ArcSDE, Oracle Spatial), and database management systems (e.g. SQL Server 2008+, MS Access, Oracle)
• you have knowledge of and experience in emerging technologies and GIS application development to analyse, develop and implement GIS tools and techniques
Project Management, Leadership and Organizational Skills:
• you have planning, organizational and project management skills to lead and manage GIS projects and provide input on priorities
• you have leadership and supervisory skills to provide direction, technical leadership and guidance to staff
Communication, Interpersonal and Consulting Skills:
• you have oral and written communication skills to prepare submissions, reports, briefing materials and planning documents, present findings, conduct training
sessions, demonstrations and seminars,
• you have consulting and interpersonal skills to determine client needs, counsel client ministry staff and end users on GIS technologies, to facilitate discussions about GIS issues, promote adherence to standards and provide advice
