Turkey Point Park is located on a bluff in the Norfolk sand plain and protects a variety of species while providing numerous recreational activities. Turkey Point Provincial Park is the only provincial park with a golf course. It also boasts three beautiful hiking trails, mountain biking trails, camping, a great beach that is shallow, has buoyed swimming, and is great for kids! As well, the park is close to many amenities in the nearby Village of Turkey Point and surrounding communities such as marinas, restaurants, zip lining and wineries.

As a Senior Operations Technician you will be an integral part of the park management team by assisting with the hands on day to day operations of the park including conducting enforcement patrols, upholding the Health & Safety program, maintaining safe and clean facilities for visitors and assisting with fee collection within a supervisory role.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, under the general supervision of the Assistant Park Superintendent, you will:

• provide group leadership for a variety of technical duties and program responsibilities associated with the day-to-day operation of the park including the enforcement, maintenance, gate, and Natural Heritage Education programs

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirements:

• You must possess a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
• You have the ability to be designated as a Park Warden and meet ministry certification criteria and standards in Use of Force.
• You are able to work shifts, weekends and holidays as per schedule.
• You possess or have the ability to obtain an Emergency First Aid Certificate.
• You must have the ability to obtain a valid water system certification.

Knowledge:

• You possess a general knowledge of building, grounds keeping and utility maintenance.
• You are knowledgeable of the operation and maintenance of common maintenance equipment (eg. lawnmowers, chainsaws, power tools, etc.).
• You possess knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply relevant acts, regulations, policies and principles related to resource management, park management, purchasing, accounting and budgeting as well as workplace safety (eg. Occupational Health and Safety Act).

Leadership and supervisory skills:

• You possess good leadership skills to provide team leadership to a variety of park staff.
• You possess supervisory skills to assist in day-to-day management and park operations.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• You possess well developed oral communication skills to enforce park rules and regulations and to provide accurate information to staff, service providers and visitors.
• You possess interpersonal skills to effectively respond to inquiries and handle complaints tactfully and with discretion.
• You possess excellent written communication skills to complete required reports, training records, maintenance logs, revenue reporting and to provide correspondence to staff, service providers and visitors.

Other general skills:

• You possess organizational skills to set work priorities and meet competing deadlines.
• You possess mathematical skills to collect fees and perform record keeping duties.
• You are proficient with a variety of computer software applications, databases and systems (e.g. word processing, record keeping, reservation systems and databases, electronic mail, etc.).
