Consider this exciting position with the Bainsville Ontario Travel Information Centre where you will promote Ontario as an all season travel destination.
Please Note: The successful candidate will be required to work at the Hawkesbury Ontario Travel Information Centre (777 Highway 417, Chute a Blondeau K0B 1B0) during the peak season of May 1st to mid-October. Bainsville and Hawkesbury Travel Centres are remotely located on the two major highways (401 & 417) in Eastern Ontario.
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• Conduct research from a variety of sources to provide information on Ontario tourism products and services, and trip planning and counselling services;
• Respond to inquiries in person, by telephone and in writing;
• Promote Ontario tourism products and services at special interest groups, tourist association presentations and showcases;
• Contribute to publications and assist in the planning and delivery of training programs;
• Perform administrative and retail sales functions including maintaining reference files and coordinating inventory control;
• Keep up to date on new tourism products available in the market.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• Proficiency in English, as well as oral French at the advanced level and written French at the advanced-minus level
• Ability to work shift work, including evening, weekends and holidays
Knowledge and Experience
• You have knowledge of and experience in the promotion of tourism industry attractions, destinations, events, products and services
Travel Counselling and Customer Service Skills
• You can answer inquiries, prepare travel plans or itineraries, and provide excellent customer service
• You can provide travel planning and counselling services, and promote Ontario as an all season travel destination
Analytical, Problem Solving and Judgement Skills
• You can determine suitable solutions to meet client needs, and work effectively as a team member in a high pressure environment
• You can monitor, recognize and report building maintenance or security issues
Communication Skills
• You can provide travel information to clients in person and over the phone
• You can prepare reports and edit tourism publications
Computer Skills
• You can use computer software applications and the Internet to conduct research and locate information
