The Ontario Clean Water Agency is an agency of the Province of Ontario, reporting to the Ministry of the Environment. About the job

In this role, you will provide hands-on project site leadership to a team of operators, assist in the planning and coordination of water distribution and sewage collection services, such as but not limited to water leak detection, water main commissioning & repair, swabbing, sewage Inflow & Infiltration surveys, etc.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• Valid Class 1 Water Distribution and Class 1 Wastewater Collection certification
• May consider lesser qualified candidates as underfill – ability to obtain minimum Operator-in-Training (OIT) within 3 months of employment, as specified in O.Reg. 128/04 of the Safe Drinking Water Act and O.Reg. 129/04 of the Ontario Water Resources Act.
• Ability to obtain within 6 months of employment a valid Class DZ driver's license.
• Must be available to be on-call after regular working hours.
• Extensive travel required.

Knowledge

• Good technical knowledge of the theories, principles and safe working practices related to the maintenance and repair of water distribution and wastewater collection systems processes and related equipment. Good knowledge of water main commissioning /disinfection, water main cleaning and acoustic leak detection experience.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of environmental health and safety legislation, regulations, procedures and guidelines including the Safe Drinking Water Act, Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Regulations 180/03, 128/03 169/03, and 170/3, Occupational Health and Safety Act, National Fire Prevention Association Standards 291, Traffic Management Section 7 of the Highway Traffic Act as well as other statues to monitor program delivery and ensure compliance.
• Demonstrated experience supervising staff to train, direct and assign work activities.

Interpersonal and communication skills:

• Good interpersonal skills are required to effectively communicate with Agency staff, clients, other levels of government and the public.

• Good planning, financial and analytical skills to manage and plan multiple projects & assess project priorities.
