The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, Supply Chain Ontario (SCO), seeks highly motivated results-oriented professionals to provide leadership and strategic/technical procurement advice and project management expertise to staff.

About the job

You will:

• lead and coordinate projects involving high value procurement services;
• act as resident procurement expert to management and clients;
• assess procurement requests for complexity and optional approaches;
• conduct research and analysis of current processes and identify alternate approaches for improved performance;
• collaborate with the Supply Chain Leadership Council to review and provide strategic input into client ministry procurements.

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

• You have knowledge of public/private sector procurement policies, procedures, trends, developments, legislation to promote client service.
• You have knowledge of changes to federal/provincial legislation related to procurement.
• You have knowledge of strategic procurement planning to support overall corporate direction.
• You can interpret and apply procurement methods, policies and procedures.

Analytical & Problem Solving Skills:

• You can identify, analyze and evaluate client business needs and develop strategies and options.
• You can develop and advise on procurement business plans.
• You can analyze policy issues and develop corporate recommendations.

Consultation, Communication & Negotiation Skills:

• You can develop strategic enterprise-wide procurement plans.
• You can develop and maintain good working relationships with clients and vendors.
• You can provide advice to clients on procurement options and risk management strategies.
• You can negotiate contracts with vendors and resolve issues.
• You can present and discuss reports.
• You can deliver information sessions.

Project Management/Leadership Skills:

• You can lead a team of procurement staff.
• You can lead projects and produce results.
• You can lead the development of training, support, education and mentoring for client groups.
