About the job
Applying your technical expertise, negotiation skills and your knowledge of contract practices, you will:
• monitor contractors' delivery of construction and maintenance operations while ensuring necessary work records are maintained
• ensure compliance with contract requirements, review of extra work, contract drawings and documents and claims
• liaise with contractors, property owners, internal staff, and the general public to address issues and complaints
• provide technical advice and training to staff
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• Valid Class “G” driver's licence and acceptable driving record
Technical expertise:
• proven experience and knowledge of constructions and/or maintenance practices including inspection, material sampling, testing, and road patrolling duties
• knowledge of highway, construction standards and specifications and maintenance
• ability to interpret contract drawings and documents
• ability to interpret and apply knowledge of related policies, acts, regulations and procedures for safety, and environmental protection
People skills:
• well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to deal with contractors, internal staff and the general public
Other important skills:
• good mathematical skills to conduct payment calculations and assessments
• proven analytical, negotiation, and problem solving skills to assist with the assessment of contract related issues
• well-developed organizational and planning skills
• good working knowledge of computers to perform clerical and administrative work such as correspondence, instruction notices, payment calculations, payment reports, contract payment assessment, and applicable reports and forms
