Bring your strong policy development, research and analytical skills to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to provide advanced policy development and analysis, research and business planning and program compliance monitoring and oversight in support of risk management, operational policy and legislative regulatory development.

About the job

Working as part of the Infrastructure and Asset Management team, you will:

• provide specific expertise in an area of policy/program development regarding social and affordable housing operations
• undertake highly technical research and evaluation studies and develop policy proposals, discussion papers and draft new/revised legislation
• liaise with ministry and external stakeholders to consult, evaluate and respond to issues
• prepare and present formal papers and presentations summarizing policy options and recommendations

What you bring to the team


Technical expertise:

• You have expertise in policy development and program evaluation principles and methods.
• You have sound knowledge of policy approval processes, issues management, and business planning methods.
• You have the ability to provide input to policy and program development and implementation.
• You have good knowledge of key government commitments related to emerging housing and homelessness issues and trends.

Research, analytical, and project management skills:

• You can evaluate problems, identify, research and analyze options and provide recommendations.
• You have the ability to evaluate and monitor the financial and economic analysis and assessment of a broad range of issues.
• You have the ability to lead project teams and oversee multiple projects.

Communication, interpersonal and presentation skills:

• You can prepare complex policy proposals, briefing notes, correspondence, reports, and business cases.
• You can provide technical guidance to staff and work collaboratively in a team environment.
• You have the ability to present program and policy related information and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
• You have a strong client service orientation.
• You have good judgment and tact to recommend strategic directions and approaches to issue resolution, research, develop and formulate policy options and analyses.

Stakeholder and consultation skills:

• You have the ability to work collaboratively and develop productive relationships with inter-ministerial partners/stakeholders, (e.g. municipalities, various levels of government, housing providers and advocacy groups) on program and policy development issues.
