About the job
In this Behavioural Consultant role, you will:
• provide behavioural assessment, training, program development and implementation for visually impaired and deaf-blind students with multiple exceptionalities and their families, teachers, and counsellors, and agency personnel;
• provide advocacy services for students;
• resolve complex/contentious situations;
• provide behavioural management training to school staff, students and families;
• periodic travel to other Provincial School sites will be required;
What you bring to the team
Qualifications:
• Community college diploma in a child care-related field such as the Child and Youth Worker or the Developmental/Social Services Worker program and/or equivalent training and experience working with children with behavioural management issues;
• Knowledge of child development and child care theories;
• Knowledge of designing, implementing, assessing and communicating behaviour management programs;
• Demonstrated training and experience in non-violent crisis intervention;
• Excellent communication/interpersonal/presentation/organizational skills;
• Demonstrated counselling/case management skills;
• Thorough knowledge of behaviour management techniques;
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, i.e., Child and Family Services Act;
• Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
