Bring your knowledge of Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) to the Provincial Highways Management Division to ensure the efficient operation of all ATMS equipment and maintenance.

What can I expect to do in this role?

Under the general supervision of the Coordinator of ITS Maintenance, the incumbent will:
• be responsible for the efficient operation of all ATMS, electrical and electronic systems
• monitor and inspect all ATMS, electrical, electronic related construction, repair, and maintenance work carried out by the crew, contractors and/or other MTO staff
• ensure all safety precautions are adhered to for protection of the MTO staff, contractors at work, and the traveling public
• estimate costs of projects with respect to labour, material, vehicle, equipment, and miscellaneous expenditures
• supervise installation, modifications, maintenance, and repairs to ATMS, electrical and electronics equipment

How do I qualify?

Mandatory Requirements:

• you are a Certified Electrician under the Apprenticeship and Tradesman Qualification Act with electronic endorsement
• you have a Valid Ontario class 'G' driver's license

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

• you have knowledge in ATMS/electrical/electronics systems specifications, repair, maintenance, installations, and modifications
• you can operate specialized test equipment associated with ATMS, electrical and electronics work, aerial and hydraulically operated equipment
• you have knowledge of government, local municipal and industry maintenance and repair standards, functional rules and regulations
• you have knowledge of electronic microprocessors, microcomputer circuitry, and digital equipment
• you understand high/ultra frequency circuits and standard TV channel frequency ranges and signal injection (i.e. video signals and data channels)

Legislative Knowledge:

• you can interpret and apply a variety of regulations, policies and directives pertaining to safe working conditions and statutes governing the electrical trade (Occupation Health and Safety Act, Highway Traffic Act, Maintenance Quality Standards)

Communication, Interpersonal, Supervisory and Analytical Skills:

• you communicate effectively and can prepare and present information in a clear and concise manner
• you can build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• you can plan, prioritize and assign daily duties and scheduling after hour call-outs
• you have analytical, conceptual, and technical skills to deliver a sound design and maintenance program, to estimate costs of projects, diagnosing system problems, supervising installations
