Our mission is to provide a safe place where students, families and staff find support to learn, grow and discover. At Sagonaska we provide a specialized residential school program for students with severe learning disabilities whose education needs cannot be met adequately in their local boards. About the job

As Team Lead you will:

• Provide group leadership and technical expertise to student support counsellors and school staff;
• Plan and monitor routines of students in a residential school setting;
• Coordinate timetables for residence staff;
• Plan, organize and implement appropriate programs for students;
• Perform duties of a Team Lead.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• Post-secondary educational program or equivalent training and experience in a child care related field;
• Current certification in CPR and Standard First Aid;
• Behaviour Management Training or equivalent.

Skills and Qualifications:

Your background and experience enables you to meet the following requirements:

• Demonstrated experience working with students who have learning disabilities and AD/HD;
• Knowledge and understanding of learning disabilities, AD/HD and behaviour management techniques;
• Knowledge and experience in child development and child care to assist students with learning disabilities and AD/HD and to facilitate effective social/recreational/leisure programs;
• Knowledge of relevant legislation/policies/procedures/guidelines/practices such as the Child Welfare Act, health and Safety Standards, Code of Ethical Behaviour and the OPSEU Collective Agreement;
• Team skills: to lead, coach and problem solve and to deal effectively and efficiently with crisis situations;
• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills to communicate effective with students, parents, staff and other professionals;
• Sound judgement and problem solving skills;
• Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Willingness and ability to work shifts.
