About the job

At the Dorion Fish Culture Station, you will work in a team to:

• assist with the collection and distribution of eggs and fish
• carry out daily fish culture activities, such as feeding, marking, thinning and sampling
• perform routine maintenance including tank cleaning and equipment maintenance
• observe fish behaviour, mortality trends and densities
• track data and prepare reports
• be responsible for facility control as required, such as on weekends or holidays

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirement:

• You must possess a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
• You must have the ability to obtain a valid DZ class license.

Technical knowledge:

• You have thorough working knowledge of all aspects of fish culture management practices as well as related fish and wildlife goals and objectives.
• You possess proven working knowledge of facility maintenance and repair.
• You have the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation.

Essential skills:

• You have demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and ability to deal effectively with various client groups.
• You have the proven ability to participate in a team environment.
• You have computer proficiency and understanding of computerized spreadsheets, databases, word processing and electronic communications software.
