If so, consider this opportunity with the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) where you will lead and manage the corporate financial planning and reporting function, as well as the planning and delivery of procurement and contract management services to support the business delivery timelines.
EQAO is an arms-length agency of the Ministry of Education, and develops/delivers multiple large-scale education assessment programs to students across the province.
About the job
• Manage and provide leadership to the EQAO corporate financial controllership function.
• Manage the development of the annual corporate financial plan, and budget estimates, ongoing rolling forecasts, financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Provide ongoing procurement and contract management services to meet business needs.
• Lead projects and contractors for the establishment and administration of corporate financial controls.
• Manage the preparation of the annual external audit of EQAO's financial statements.
What you bring to the team
Knowledge of accounting principles and standards:
• You have comprehensive senior level knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Public Sector Accounting (PSA) Handbook.
• You have knowledge of modern controllership policies and best practices and related financial and administrative legislation.
• You demonstrate knowledge of procurement and tendering processes.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Microsoft Great Plains and Management Reporter).
Strategic thinking, problem solving and analytical skills:
• You have strategic thinking skills to advise the CEO and Board of Directors on short and long term financial planning and control issues.
• You have problem solving and analytical skills to identify, review and resolve financial accountability and reporting issues.
Relationship management, presentation and communication skills:
• You have relationship management skills to initiate and maintain strong and cooperative working relationships at all levels.
• You have consultation, advisory and presentation skills to provide expert advice to management.
• You have written communication skills to prepare budget submissions, financial reports, and briefing papers.
Leadership and human resources management skills:
• You have leadership and human resources management skills to lead unit staff, including hiring and assigning responsibilities and priorities.
