As a Senior Operations Technician you will be an integral part of the park management team by assisting with the hands on day to day operations of the park including enforcement, health & safety, maintenance and supervisory duties. About the job

In this role, you will:

• provide group leadership for a variety of technical duties and program responsibilities associated with the day-to-day operation of the park
• enforce provincial statutes within the park
• ensure the health and safety of staff and park visitors
• maintain park facilities, take water samples, and perform applicable water treatment duties
• assist with staff supervision, training, scheduling, discipline, etc.

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements:

• You must possess a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
• You have the ability to be designated as a Park Warden and meet ministry certification criteria and standards in Use of Force.
• You are able to work shifts, weekends and holidays as per schedule.
• You possess or have the ability to obtain an Emergency First Aid Certificate.
• You possess or have the ability to obtain a Pleasure Craft Operators Card.
• You possess or have the ability to obtain a Limited Surface Water Subsystems Operators Certificate.
• You possess or have the ability to be certified to operate a chainsaw, ATV and tractor.

Knowledge:

• You possess a general knowledge of building, grounds keeping and utility maintenance.
• You are knowledgeable of the operation and maintenance of light powered equipment such as lawnmowers, tractors, ATV's, chainsaws, boats, small hand tools, etc.
• You possess knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply relevant acts, regulations, policies and principles related to resource management, park management, purchasing, accounting and budgeting as well as public health and workplace safety (eg. Occupational Health and Safety Act).

Leadership and supervisory skills:

• You possess good leadership skills to provide team leadership to a variety of park staff.
• You possess supervisory skills to assist in day-to-day management and park operations.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• You possess well developed communication skills to enforce park rules and regulations and to provide accurate information to staff, service providers and visitors.
• You possess interpersonal skills to effectively respond to inquiries and handle complaints tactfully and with discretion.
• You have demonstrated written communication skills to complete required reports, training records, maintenance logs, revenue reporting and to provide correspondence to staff, service providers and visitors.

Other general skills:

• You possess organizational skills to set work priorities and meet competing deadlines.
• You possess mathematical skills to collect fees and perform record keeping and purchasing duties.
• You are proficient with a variety of computer software applications, databases and systems (e.g. word processing, record keeping, reservation systems and databases, electronic mail, etc.).
