About the job
Reporting directly to the Manager, Box Office Call Centre & Reception of the Visitor Services department of the Ontario Science Centre requires an individual to supervise, coach, motivate and provide overall group leadership for up to 70, front-end Visitor Services staff. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations of key front-line service areas in the department by acting as the key point for customers, ensuring that we exceed customer expectations by always providing friendly, attentive, informative service and continual engagement in science and technology. Operational requirements will include the generation of budget based staff work schedules, determining work assignments in a manner that anticipates customer need.
Duties include: opening and closing of sales stations, payment devices; the preparation of operating floats for cashiers; consolidation and reconciliation of tickets sales and of end-of-day sales reports, and nightly balancing of operation float; preparation of sales income-based bank deposits; for armoured courier, coordination of armoured cash pick-ups and change orders in conjunction with anticipated need; staff orientation, documentation and training; preparation of payroll for fixed-term staff; and maintenance of staff communication network .
As one of the three supervisors you will work on a rotational basis including days, evenings, weekends, statutory holidays and Ontario Science Centre specific peak periods.

• Demonstrated supervisory experience working in a high-volume, frontline customer service environment (i.e. box office/theatre /attraction)
• Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and develop staff, while maintaining a cohesive team environment
• Knowledge of training/development and facilitation techniques
• Experience with coordinating/scheduling staff
• Ability to respond to emergency situations with sound judgment
Communication and Customer Service Skills
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Superior customer service skills & extensive experience dealing with customers in a high-volume environment
• Knowledge of customer service & service delivery practices/principles
• Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when attending to visitors
Technical Skills
• Expertise with network based sales and reservation ticket systems
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and database software
• Experience in cash management, reconciliation and audit controls
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
Organizational Skills
• Proven ability to multi-task and to work under pressure, and demonstrated initiative and adaptability.
