About the job
In this role, you will:
• Manage, coach and inspire staff
• Direct the traffic operation centre.
• Direct and coordinate the delivery of part of the region's construction program, including contract preparation and administration, and tendering.
• Coordinate emergency plans within the region and with external stakeholders.
• Ensure material and staff resources are utilized efficiently.
• Liaise with municipalities and other stakeholders.
• Monitor allocated funds to ensure that programs and projects are delivered within budget.
• Conduct or participate in special projects.

Mandatory requirements
• Valid class G Ontario drivers' licence
Leadership Skills
• You can foster an inclusive work environment with employees and stakeholders
• You have experience managing a team of professional staff delivering results
• You have expertise in structuring, organizing and managing and direct staff, plan and organize work
• Demonstrated skills in managing financial budgets and human resources, including labour relations issues
Highway Operations Knowledge
• You have knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of civil engineering and knowledge of design, construction and maintenance procedures
• You have knowledge of legislation and regulations related to infrastructure improvement, highway operations, drainage works, and municipalities and unincorporated areas
• You have knowledge of emergency practices and procedures and public safety issues
Communication and Stakeholder Relations Skills
• You have demonstrated written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
• You have experience building and maintaining relationship across the organization as well as external partners in order to gather input and build consensus and deliver on priorities
• You can resolve disputes regarding contentious issues including those related to design, construction and funding programs
Essential Skills
• You have planning, organizational and administrative skills to assess implications of ministry policies, to plan, co-ordinate and implement a diverse range of programs
