About the job
In this role you will:
• develop and implement stakeholder engagement and communications strategies for the Office of the Chief Health Innovation Strategist (OCHIS)
• coordinate internal and external stakeholder engagement activities that support the Chief Health Innovation Strategist and when required, serve as the public spokesperson for the OCHIS
• lead high-profile communications activities and projects that use your skills and knowledge in writing, presenting, strategic planning, event management, and social media engagement
• provide strategic advice to senior management on issue management, media relations and communications activities
What you bring to the team
Communication Skills
• you have political acuity and a deep understanding regarding the inter-relations between governments (federal/provincial), the health sector, and private sector organizations and academic institutions
• you are able to effectively apply your communications skills to facilitate, create collaborations, enable information sharing, build trust and sustain positive relationships
• you have excellent written and verbal communications skills to develop a range of stakeholder engagement and communications resources and materials
• you have consultation, presentation, and negotiation skills to lead consultations and liaison processes with project teams
• you can facilitate discussions, diffuse tensions; and resolve issues arising in the in the consultation process
Knowledge
• you have the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of the role of the Office of the Chief Health Innovation Strategist, the mandate of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Patients First: Action Plan for Health
• you have knowledge of the broad economic system, and health sector and political issues, to provide strategic advice on the Ontario health innovation ecosystem, the health technology sector and other key stakeholders that contribute to health innovation
• you have knowledge of levels of care across the health system and the key components of health care delivery in Ontario.
• you have knowledge of stakeholder engagement and communications principles and methods to develop effective strategies
Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
• you can conceptualize and implement strategies and approaches for engaging, consulting, negotiating, and strengthening linkages with key stakeholders
• you have strong stakeholder analysis skills to assess opportunities and identify issues
• you are able to translate stakeholder engagement opportunities into communications strategies, tools and tactics
• you are able to track and report on performance of stakeholder engagement and communications activities and demonstrate continuous improvement
• you can anticipate and absorb complex, inter-related, and highly political issues, and develop options/recommendations that address issues and concerns
Technical Knowledge and Skills
• you have the ability to translate technical and/or specialized material and terminology into plain language for public dissemination
• you have superb editing skills to ensure accuracy and consistency for style, language usage, flow and logical presentation of information
