Are you passionate about research and evaluation and the role it can play in supporting evidence-based policy and program decisions? Do you have experience using quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, as well as developing logic models and performance outcomes and indicators? Consider joining the Policy Research and Analysis Branch in a Research Analyst role, where you will be an integral part of supporting a culture of evidence-based policy and practice, as MCSS moves toward a focus on improving outcomes for the people we serve.
About the job
- Support consultations with internal and external partners, including people the ministry serves and their families and communities, to develop performance measurement frameworks that measure the impact of ministry programs
- Support development of evaluation frameworks in consultation with delivery partners
- Support completion of end-to-end evaluations of ministry programs with your proven quantitative and qualitative research skills
- Support development of performance measures through literature reviews and jurisdictional scans
- Summarize key findings from evaluations in digestible reports using well-developed writing skills
What you bring to the team
Analytical and Research Skills
• You have training and experience using a range of quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation techniques, including research design, data capture, data analysis, data interpretation, and survey development.
• You are able to supervise the development of small databases, auditing data for integrity, planning and executing appropriate statistical analyses, and summarizing and presenting project results.
• You have experience analyzing and interpreting complex statistical data
• You know how to develop logic models, identify policy and program outcomes, and develop outcome measurement tools.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• You are able to effectively communicate information and present research findings to a variety of contacts
• You have consultation, interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy to provide advice and engage with partners
• You can prepare a range of communications materials (summaries of analyses, correspondence, briefing notes, etc.)
• You can communicate complex technical information/analyses to non-technical audiences
Project Management and Program Area Knowledge
• You understand community and social services issues, organizations and programs including relevant legislation, regulations, and policies to prepare recommendations and respond to public inquiries regarding initiatives.
• You have experience managing projects
• You can develop business cases, draft agreements and grant letters, coordinate approvals and provide advice.
