About the job
• You will provide leadership and policy expertise in the analysis and development of policies and strategies and the implementation of initiatives related to supplies and pricing of natural gas, propane, crude oil, petroleum products and low carbon alternative fuels in the province.
• You will serve as a primary liaison with internal/external stakeholders and associations with respect to natural gas, crude oil, petroleum products and alternative lower carbon fuel supplies.
What you bring to the team
Policy Expertise:
• You have experience applying knowledge of program and policy development and policy decision-making processes to guide policy development and recommend options.
• You have applied theories, principles, practices and methodologies of public policy, economics, and finance to develop policy options, strategic advice and policy recommendations.
Research and Analytical Skills:
• You can undertake demanding research and analytical studies to support initiatives.
• You can use your analytical and problem-solving skills to assess the impact of initiatives and develop sound policy options to support goals.
• You have shown the ability provide analytical support to senior executives through the provision of technical and specialized briefings.
Energy Sector Knowledge:
• You have knowledge of the broad economic, environmental, legal, and political issues underlying policy development in the energy sector to develop policy options and strategies.
• You are familiar with the energy industry, to oversee the survey, research and development of solutions and options to ensure an adequate supply of energy and appropriate pricing of natural gas, renewable natural gas, propane, crude oil, petroleum products and alternative transportation fuels for Ontario, and to provide advice as a technical expert.
Communication Skills:
• You can liaise with a variety of stakeholders and agencies to address issues, serve as an advisor to project teams and participate on task forces and discussion groups.
• You can consult with senior executives and stakeholders to provide advice on initiatives related to energy conservation, interpret legislation and provide briefings.
• You have demonstrated communication, consultation, negotiation, interpersonal and presentation skills to prepare and present policy options and recommendations to senior executives.
Computer Proficiency:
• You are proficient in using computer software to prepare reports, presentations, correspondence and conduct research.
