About the job
In this role you will:
• accurately validate and process requests for the appointment of a conciliator or mediator, arbitrator and/or nominee in accordance with existing
legislation in both English and French.
• interpret and apply relevant labour legislation to ensure compliance with matters of jurisdiction, timeliness and Ministerial authority in the provision of
conciliation, mediation and arbitration services, ensuring full compliance.
• monitor and collect data on the status of collective agreement negotiations in Ontario by creating, maintaining and updating information on-line in the
Dispute Resolution Services (DRS) system database, as well as provide clerical services in the Collective Agreements Library and to a diverse group of
labour relations clients and stakeholders.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You have advanced level written and verbal French.
Labour Relations Knowledge:
• You have knowledge of labour relations terminology and concepts, processes for applications and requests for services.
• You can interpret and apply various labour legislation such as Labour Relations Act, Fire Protection and Prevention Act, Hospital Labour Disputes Arbitration Act, etc.
Other Skills:
• You are proficient with Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, PageMaker, SAP Crystal Reports, BOXII internet, intranet and .net framework.
• You can produce reports based on existing data to compose and prepare applicable correspondence.
• You can maintain filing systems for retention according to established procedures and policies for transfer to the records centre.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
• You can effectively communicate with stakeholders using diplomacy and discretion to resolve discrepancies and gather information.
• You can prepare correspondence and reports based on research of existing legislation and case law.
• You demonstrate judgment, discretion, interpersonal skills and the ability to work with limited supervision, and maintain confidentiality in releasing agreements and information to stakeholders.
Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:
• You can investigate and extract information from a variety of sources.
• You can identify inconsistencies and irregularities and use comprehensive knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures to make the appropriate inquiries of stakeholders to resolve problems.
Organizational Skills:
• You can work under pressure with competing legislative deadlines.
• You can investigate and reconcile discrepancies and maintain records with complete accuracy.
