About the job

In this role, you will:
• Identify emerging issues and trends with potential implications for the Ministry and utilize issues management strategies
• Coordinate the preparation and maintenance of issues notes
• Coordinate the requests for information and briefing materials
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders

What you bring to the team


Technical Knowledge

• You have the ability to acquire knowledge of political and government decision-making processes and protocols; policy development and approval processes and relevant legislation and regulations
• You have the ability to understand diverse viewpoints of stakeholders and prepare relevant briefing materials
• You have knowledge of computers to maintain and access information databases, develop information and distribute information in a networking environment

Communication Skills

• You have oral and written communication skills to provide advice and guidance to senior ministry and political staff
• You can respond to inquiries, lead and coordinate meetings, make presentations and prepare and edit briefing materials

Research, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

• You have research and analytical techniques to identify and review issues and evaluate the relevance of information prepared by ministry staff
• You can research, investigate and assess relevance of information and identify key issues to be addressed
• You can identify and advise management on contentious stakeholder issues
• You have the ability to suggest proactive strategies to address and resolve issues

Negotiation and Interpersonal Skills

• You have tact and diplomacy to advise the Minister's Office on emerging and contentious issues and liaise with stakeholder groups
• You have negotiation skills to negotiate deadlines for information or briefings material requests
• You have strong persuasion skills
