Both positions require some travel within the region.

About the job

You will:
• Represent the Crown in Part III, Provincial Offences Act, trials and appeals of offences under provincial statutes for the region
• Draft grounds of appeal
• Research and present written and oral arguments
• Provide advice to police and legal professionals
• Perform related administrative services and conduct resolution meetings

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• You are proficient in both English and French (oral and written) at the superior level ( for the bilingual position only).

Technical Knowledge:

• You have knowledge and experience in the practice of advocacy
• You have knowledge of the Provincial Offences Act, relevant legislation and related case law in order to evaluate evidence, and interpret and apply statutes and precedents
• You have knowledge of policies, practices and court procedures related to the prosecution of provincial offences

Other Essential Skills:

• You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interview witnesses, present and summarize evidence and make legal arguments
• You are able to exercise sound judgement and make decisions independently
• You have research and analytical skills to assess the progress of cases, and the reliability and completeness of evidence
• You have planning, administrative and organizational skills to organize daily court lists, set trial dates and meet deadlines
