About the job
You will:
• lead and work with regional task/project teams to provide species at risk input to provincial policies, legislation, programs, standards and guidelines
• participate on committees, working groups and project teams to transfer program knowledge and evaluate solutions, approvals and implementation
• provide advice to staff, agencies and the public to enable consistent implementation of species at risk policies, program and guidelines
• prepare reports, briefing notes, correspondence and presentation materials
• lead the regional species at risk work plan and the development of implementation tools alongside other specialists
• review client proposals for consistency with broader program direction
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirement:
• possession of a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent as recognized by the province of Ontario.Technical knowledge:
• demonstrated knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of biology and applied ecology as it relates to species at risk.
• proven ability to interpret and apply current resource management principles and planning approaches to advise in reviewing and assessing proposals and resource management plans.Analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills:
• analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret and apply legislation, policies and directives.
• ability to analyze information and make recommendations.Relationship management and interpersonal skills:
• ability to develop and maintain effective relationships to gain support for ministry positions or planning issues.
• proven ability to build consensus and resolve conflicts in order to determine areas of common agreement and gain support.Project management, planning and organizational skills:
• ability to plan and coordinate proposal reviews and arrange client and public meetings and workshops.
