What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will work on assigned shifts and provide diversified nursing services. You will:
• Conduct health assessments;
• Provide emergency intervention;
• Dispense medication;
• Liaise with other professionals and correctional staff.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You must have a current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Registered Practical Nurses will not be considered)
• You must be able to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays
Nursing Knowledge and Skills
• You have knowledge of nursing theories and practices, and you can develop and provide nursing care
• You can interpret and apply relevant legislation (e.g., Regulated Health Care Professionals Act, Health Care Consent Act)
Assessment, Reasoning, Judgment and Analytical Skills
• You demonstrate effective skills to identify and evaluate health care issues, assist in the development, evaluation and revision of health care treatment plans, assess emergency situations, and decide on appropriate treatment measures
Communication, Interpersonal and Counselling Skills
• You can present information, and provide individualized health care treatment and education to clients, staff and other professionals
• You can work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and with a diverse client group
Computer Skills
• You have basic computer skills to prepare reports, and input/retrieve offenders' information from database
