Are you interested in a dynamic opportunity where you will take part in modernizing government services and supporting digital government transformation? The Strategic Policy Unit is looking for a highly motivated professional and team player to help shape strategic policy for ServiceOntario. Drawing upon your exceptional policy expertise and project leadership skills, this role will provide a great opportunity to research and develop strategic services redesign policy options and recommendations, including digital services, in line with ServiceOntario's strategic plan and priorities.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will:

• Lead the development of effective service redesign-oriented strategic policies and related materials
• Provide policy expertise, identify gaps, and develop policies and recommendations that are aligned with ServiceOntario's strategic priorities and digital services transformation objectives
• Conduct research and analysis, and provide interpretation of trends, challenges and opportunities
• Establish and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships and lead consultations
• Develop options to address issues and recommend viable policy solutions
• Prepare presentation decks, Cabinet Submissions and related materials to support policy initiatives and executive decisions
• Provide responses to policy issues arising from stakeholders and the public
• Deliver policy advice and/or briefings to senior management and executives regarding strategic policy renewal and emerging issues

How do I qualify?

Policy Development and Implementation

• You have well developed strategic policy development skills and experience with regulatory framework development and maintenance
• You understand service redesign concepts and methods relating to policy development
• You have demonstrated experience in supporting executive decision making and have political acuity to understand critical issues and concerns faced by a variety of stakeholders
• You have experience in providing expert evidence-based policy recommendations and advice that aligns with strategic organizational priorities and key government mandate objectives

Leadership and Project Management Skills

• You have proven project management skills to plan, establish priorities, anticipate issues and implement recommendations across functional teams and work groups
• You can lead consultations and coordinate issues management activities
• You have experience establishing work plans and team priority plans to ensure coordinated, quality output while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• You can work effectively in a team environment and manage tight deadlines with competing priorities

Relationship Management, Consultation and Problem-Solving Skills

• You have experience developing and maintaining stakeholder partnerships to obtain information, analyse policy challenges and solutions, and generate consensus
• You can consult with stakeholders to anticipate and manage potential issues and negotiate and resolve concerns that may arise
• You can develop and deliver effective presentations to senior management, executives and other audiences

Research and Analytical Skills

• You have knowledge of research methodologies, environmental and jurisdictional scanning, modeling and forecasting
• You have experience researching and understanding digital services trends and opportunities
• You have evaluative and interpretive skills to identify and assess policy options in terms of impact, cost and benefits
• You can present analytical results and policy recommendations in a variety of formats to various audiences

Organizational and Computer Skills

• You have experience preparing policy related materials using your knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
• You are able to effectively prioritize your work to manage multiple projects and issues
• You have organization skills to manage conflicting work demands and deliver priorities in alignment with team objectives
