What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

- provide strategic communications expertise and advice to senior management on a variety of complex corporate, commodity and sales tax issues
- provide input into and coordinate taxation content for major government documents, including the Ontario Budget and Economic Outlook and Fiscal Review
- establish strong working relationships with internal/external clients
- prepare communications responses and other correspondence related to corporate and commodity taxation on behalf of the Minister and Deputy Minister within key deadlines
- respond to all Freedom of Information requests as well as tracking requests and ensuring timelines are met
- research material to aid in the preparation of tax policy briefing notes for senior management
- liaise with colleagues and stakeholders across government while building strong working relationships

How do I qualify?

Technical Expertise:

- you understand government mandate, legislative framework, policies/programs and business goals
- you are familiar with the Freedom of Information Act
- you have an understanding of Ontario's tax system

Communication and Computer Skills:

- you can present materials effectively to senior management and various stakeholders using your strong presentation and writing skills
- you are able to establish good working relationships with colleagues
- you demonstrate strong negotiation skills
- you can use a variety of computer applications to develop communications materials

Analytical and Research Skills:

- you are able to analyze information and solve issues in a timely and strategic manner
- you can conduct thorough research and assess information and identify key issues to be addressed when preparing materials
