The Office of Tax, Benefit and Local Finance (Ministry of Finance) is a critical contributor to multiple government priorities through fair and efficient administration of tax and benefit programs on behalf of Ontarians. Advisory Services supports the branches of Tax Compliance and Benefit Division and the Assistant Deputy Minister Office in tax and benefit administration.

Advisory Services is looking for a Program Advisory Analyst to join our dynamic team and participate in outreach projects that will help empower Ontarians to be more tax literate.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• Assist in the development of stakeholder consultation strategies
• Support the implementation of education and outreach strategies, plans and products
• Prepare program communications and outreach materials
• Develop options and prepare recommendations for efficient outreach scheduling
• Conduct self-directed research and analysis on ways to increase reach
• Gather, organize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data
• Evaluate best practices, options, costs, and impacts
• Prepare and/or present briefings
• Assist senior staff and management in support of strategic research and program policy development
• Participate in consultation processes with internal and external stakeholders
• Act as a contact and liaison among the division, ministry, partner ministries, major stakeholder representatives and central agencies

How do I qualify?

Communication and Advisory Skills:

• You demonstrate written communication skills to prepare program communications and outreach materials, briefing materials and correspondence
• You demonstrate public consultation skills to assist in the development of stakeholder consultation strategies
• You are able to explain tax and benefit administration programs and policies to stakeholders
• You have communication skills to promote program initiatives to internal and external stakeholders
• Your advisory skills allow you to provide senior management with analytical findings, advice and briefings

Research and Analytical Skills:

• You demonstrate the ability to lead and participate in projects
• You demonstrate research skills to gather, research, synthesize and analyze qualitative and quantitative data
• You can analyze trends and evaluate best practices, options, costs, and impacts
• You can formulate options and make recommendations based on your research findings and evaluation of stakeholder interests

Relationship Management and Influencing Skills:

• You have experience providing advice to staff and contacts
• You have strong client relations and negotiation skills to conduct briefings with management
• You are able to maintain effective relationships with stakeholders
• You have facilitation skills and diplomacy to represent the ministry/province on working groups and intergovernmental committees

Computer Skills:

• You have knowledge and experience with standard office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) to maintain databases and to prepare reports, correspondence, presentations and spreadsheets
