What can I expect to do in this role?
Working in a multi-disciplinary team for adult offenders in a correctional facility, you will provide a full range of services, including:
• clinical assessments
• coordinating case management and crisis intervention
• specialized treatment with complex cases
• developing and delivering treatment programs
• community outreach
• advocating to secure services
• assisting with reintegration process
• developing support systems for offenders
How do I qualify?
Mandatory Requirements:
• You are registered as a Social Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
• You have oral French language skills at the advanced level
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
• You have demonstrated experience applying social work theories, principles and practices (including developing rehabilitative treatment plans) normally acquired through a Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work
• You are able to interpret and apply relevant legislation
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• You have demonstrated oral communication skills and the ability to provide individual and group counselling services
• You have demonstrated written communication skills to prepare assessments, evaluations and reports
• You have interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team including outside agencies
Organizational Skills, Tact and Discretion:
• You are able to manage conflicting priorities
• You have demonstrated tact and discretion to maintain confidentiality
• You have demonstrated sensitivity when discussing problems with offenders in crisis
Analytical, Problem Solving and Computer Skills:
• You have analytical and problem solving skills to assess offenders in crisis and apply appropriate therapeutic intervention
• You are able to effectively use word processing applications to input and retrieve offender data, prepare reports and maintain case documentation and statistics
